Welcome to the Sussex Interpreters Direct Website.
Sussex Interpreters Direct (SID) are a group of qualified, registered, freelance British Sign Language (BSL)/English interpreters based around the Brighton and Sussex area.
We are not an Interpreting agency, so any booking request you make will be sent to each of the nine Interpreters who will then contact you direct, if they are available.
This means that unlike interpreting agencies, there are no additional administration or booking fees as you are dealing with the interpreter and paying them direct.
We work across Sussex, including:
- Brighton
- Hove
- Worthing
- Lancing
- Eastbourne
- Hastings
- Crawley
- All areas in East and West Sussex

We all have over 10 years of experience as Sign Language Interpreters and are all registered with the NRCPD (National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind people).
NRCPD registration is vital as it assures you a level of competence, accountability and insurance.
Even if you don’t book through us, please do expect interpreters to be registered with NRCPD and ask to see their badge!
